Different Pitches
The overtone series and the equal-temperament tuning are different in pitch. (Equal-temperament tuning is the usual one in western music.)
Overtone singing becomes easier when you know the relationships between the natural sounds of the overtone series and the artificial system of the equal-temperament tuning.
You will also benefit from being able to visualize intervals on a piano keyboard.
